May on the farm

May at Second Spring Farm was full. Our days were filled with planting, transplanting, building more beds, building irrigation systems, and as always, caring for our cows and chickens. Its also full of life. Hummingbirds have taken up residence in my herb garden, Yellowthroats and Goldfinches are flitting in and out of the pasture, and a chickadee nest sits in a hedge just outside my front door. The gardens are at their spring peak and early summer blooms, like roses, are flush with a steady stream of pink and yellow blooms. The sheer, unfiltered beauty of nature waking up around us makes the full days worth it.
